Hi there! It had been a week since the BDJ Rendezvous: Watch Me Shine but I am still on the hype to share with you what happened on that afternoon of June 27, 2015 in Glorietta 3, Hallway.
So let's start on how I got an invite to the event: Few weeks before that fun-filled afternoon of talk, raffles and games, Belle De Jour Power Planner posted on their social media accounts and webpage the invite mechanics which were as follows:
I did the three options to get a sure invite (hehe, sigurista!) because I really love attending BDJ events and I don't want to miss one.
a. I blogged about my Coffee Bean And Tea Leaf #PerksofABella experience which you can read
here.
b. posted this photo of my #WatchMeShine moment:
c. Shared the invite poster above, both in Facebook and Instagram
Doing the 3 invite mechanics, it did pay off as I got to attend the event and even have a plus one (bring a friend) option, which unfortunately I wasn't able to utilize as the friends I invited were not available for that day.

| The Bellas while waiting for the program to start. |
 |
| A mandatory photo op with the host for the day Ms. Sarah Carlos, who will soon be a mainstay in the ever famous remake of the Pangako Sayo teleserye. She'll be Bea Bianca, who's the third wheel for the Kathniel tandem in the series. |
The registration started at 12:30 but me and my dear friend Bea got there 3 minutes after 1 pm. Mich of BDJ jokingly teased us that we were late and we answered back giggling that all the while we thought the event was in Greenbelt 3 that's why we stayed there and roamed around the area until I checked my phone and realized that it was in Glorietta 3. (haha!) Luckily, the event had not yet started and we were included in the raffle.

| Sponsored goodies that were raffled off for the bellas. |

| Who wouldn't be delighted to learn something new and take home raffle prizes that each girl could use to pamper themselves. |
Here are the coins that I took home with me from the 4 talks that this rendezvous had:
- FOLLOW YOUR STYLE PERSONA by Kristine Garduque
(Feel Pretty and sexy while wearing comfortable laid back clothes)
What is laid back?
- adjective: Informal
- carefree; having a relaxed or casual atmosphere or character; unconstrained by rigid standards
What is the anatomy of a laid back style?
- shirt + good fitting jeans + all purpose flats + versatile cover-up + statement accessories
Common style mistakes:
- bad proportions
- wearing poor fitting clothes
- too much bling or too much skin
- blindly following trends
- inappropriate clothing
- compromising comfort
How to embrace your own style persona?
- "See everything but judge nothing, just choose your own path and let others choose their own. See everything but judge no one just focus on your own path and let others focus on their own. see everything but judge not what you see. You have your own inner worlds to conquer, your own inner gardens to water, and to hone. You have your own inner gold to shine. See all, Judge not, Know Thyself"
Ms Kristine was asked during the Q&A portion of her talk and I loved how she truthfully answered it:
Q: Are you willing to give up your career in the medical field for your passion for fashion?
A: The thought of her answer goes like this: She does not need to give up or choose any of the two because both her career and fashion are what makes her and her personality and both are her "passion" (to express herself through fashion and to help the cancer patients she's handling). With full honesty she stated that she won't give up her career in the medical field because she studied it for how many years.
- WIN THE FINANCIAL GAME by Aya Laraya
(Decide on what investments to make and how to create more value for your money)
 |
| Aya Laraya: Host of Pesos an Sense and a Licensed Stokcbroker |
Here are the main points of the most interesting talk for me that day:
- Learn to invest and make money work you
- Why are you investing?
(1) retirement
(2) tax obligations and
(3) Big purchases
- Investing is a choice between something GOOD and something POTENTIALLY BETTER.
- There are a lot of choices out there you just need to be knowledgeable on each of them or on your choice on where to invest: eg. Stock Market, Bonds, Real Estate, Mutual Funds
- Risks are still there nothing had change. You just need to know what exactly the choice of investment you will want to have. BE KNOWLEDGEABLE!
- Investing will depend on your purpose:
- How he made it?
(a) by taking chances
(b) by experiencing early failures
(c) by taking by heart the lessons he learned
- MAKEUP RULES TO LIVE by CJ Jimenez
(Day to day beauty rules from the beauty expert)
 |
| CJ Jimenez: A Professional Makeup Artist and International Accredited Image Consultant |
I think bellas who attended this rendezvous will with me if I'll say that this is the most entertaining talk for the day with a very jolly and active speaker CJ Jimenez.
Reasons for wearing make up:
- To project the image you want for your self.
- To show CONFIDENCE: When you look good, you feel good.
- To have time for oneself: "Me Time, Make Up Time"
- For self-expression and artistic expression
- To have that competitive edge.
Ms. CJ discussed the things to consider in setting/choosing the right makeup for the day which are as follows:
- purpose or type of occasion
- place of the event
- time of the day
- what will you be wearing
She also emphasized the importance of the most basic thing in achieving a flawless make up look which is having a clean base or face/skin with the following advises:
- Getting enough rest and sleep
- Doing exercises
- Eating healthy
- Managing your time to lessen stress
- Stop smoking
MOST IMPORTANT THINGS REMEMBER IN MAKE UP!
- Make up is an art therefore it's an expression of oneself.
- We are all beautiful and we only use make up to bring out the best in us.
- To achieve a beautiful make up you have to combine usage of right tools, good application an high quality products.
- KEEP IT REAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA by Karen Ostrea
(Know proper social media etiquette and bringing positivity online)
 |
| Karen Ostrea: 2002 Binibining Pilipinas - Universe and Founder of Global Image Management |
These are the pointers that I got from Ms. Karen Ostrea:
- Your online image is people's perception of you.
- Keep your online profile real but secured
- Be mindful and be sensitive on posting stuffs in social medias
- Do not post/ Avoid posting about people, controversial issues, religion, sexuality and other sensitive topics publicly
- Show yourself as someone who is neutral and in the positive light.
- Don't flood people's timelines of an hourly updates of yourself.
Make yourself shine by creating a good and lasting impression:
55% - Appearance
38% - Visual Presentation
7% - X-Factor
I did learn a lot of new things from their speakers and probably this rendezvous had the most entertaining speakers and mind captivating topics discussed to date yet since I had known about BDJ Events,
Below are the other photos of how each bella maximized the event:
 |
| The Ace Water Spa booth with their Pachinko Game which made me have a new on the go foldable fan. |
 |
Bellas lined up in the Canon Photo wall for an event souvenir
|
 |
The Pond's booth and their skin analyzer, I bought a new Pond's Cream and had the gold Radiance in their pick-a-prize.
|
 |
Oh I miss the pink ribbon, but I believed this is a better and more secure way to identify registered participants.
|
 |
| And of course, I took home these loots.. Thanks BDJ! |
